The Porta Mariae, “Marian Gate” in Latin, commemorates the 300th year of the devotion to Our Lady of Peñafrancia. The triumphal arch is 18 meters wide, four meters deep, and 11 meters high and is located at the Naga Metropolitan Cathedral Complex, welcoming everyone to the sprawling grounds. On top of it is a 10-foot tall brass image of the patron saint, heralded by two angels on both sides.
The Holy Rosary Minor Seminary can be found to its left. The area also includes the Naga Parochial School and the Parish of St. John the Evangelist Office. and stands overlooking the historic Barlin Street, which was the site of the original cuartel of the guardia civil during Spanish times.
The arch, described by some visitors as a mini-version of Arc de Triomphe in Paris, was blessed and inaugurated in September 2010. It is one of the only two triumphal arches in the Philippines
