Significance
CAMARINES SUR NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL
(From the Historical Marker installed by the Naga City Government on 15 July 2024, coinciding with the school’s 122nd Foundation Anniversary.)
Founded on July 15, 1902, the Camarines High School was established by the Thomasites as a provincial school in Nueva Caceres with Frank L. Crone as its first principal and Minerva Udell as his assistant. Classes were then transferred to a renovated building rented by the provincial government. In 1915, upon completion of the Gabaldon buildings, classes relocated to the present site at Via Gainza (Peñafrancia Avenue).
During World War II, the main Gabaldon Building served as Japanese headquarters under Colonel Isabashi. After the war, the original school buildings underwent restoration. On June 21, 1969, through Republic Act 5529, Camarines Sur High School was officially converted into a national school and named Camarines Sur National High School.
Since its establishment, the Camarines Sur National High School remains steadfast to its commitment to academic excellence.
