Hundreds of pilgrims on bikes covered a distance of roughly 25 kilometers, a scenic route that included historic churches in Naga City. This is effectively a pilot run for another version of the Camino de Peñafrancia as envisioned by its advocates and leaders.
At each stop, participants had their Camino passports marked:
Registration was free. Aside from other perks for participants, organizers provided free snacks at the end of the bike tour. Support services included having a medical emergency vehicle accompanying the bikers.
Some of the participating bikers groups are the Oragon Bikers, Easy Riders Philippines, Naga Na Bikers, 94 Cycle Group, Calabanga Bikers, and others. The different parishes and their churches were on-hand to receive them as tour stations/destinations. The group is headed by Mr. Jonathan “Boboy’ Hernandez of the Naga City bicycle group. They were warmly received and blessed by Archbishop Rex Alarcon in their final station at the Peñafrancia Basilica Minore.
