Camino de Penafrancia 2024:
What you need to know
Route Summary
The journey begins in Ocampo, where pilgrims visit several churches before proceeding to Tigaon.
After Tigaon, the route continues to San Jose, then on to Lagonoy, and from Lagonoy to Goa.
Early the next morning, the walk resumes towards Tinambac, and from there, the pilgrimage continues directly to Calabanga.
The following day, the walk leads to Magarao, then to Canaman, and finally, pilgrims will visit the churches in Naga, including the Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia and the Basilica.
At certain points during the pilgrimage, there will be opportunities to commune with nature, watch cultural performances and other activities to deepen the Camino experience.
Mechanics
Throughout this pilgrimage, each participant carries a passport, known as the Camino passport, which is stamped at every church along the route.
The ideal goal is to complete the approximately 100 km journey, covering all the churches from the starting point to the end.
However, for those who are unable to complete the entire journey in one go, they can continue at a later time since they have their Camino passport.
Those who finish the pilgrimage and collect all the stamps along the Camino de Peñafrancia route can present their stamped passport at the Basilica to receive a certificate as proof of completing the pilgrimage.
At the last day, pilgrims may then join the Traslacion Procession.
